Charles Chiu

Charles joined the Building Roots team in February 2023. His involvement with the Moss Park community started in 2018 as a bike mechanic and a volunteer instructor of bike repair workshops. Over the years, he has also served as Executive Director of a small nonprofit that provided free cycling education to youth and children and actively participated in the Moss Park Market. With a background in urban geography, Charles has a strong interest in issues related to urban planning, food justice, and active transportation. He is thrilled and honoured to be working closely with Toronto’s Downtown East communities through Building Roots, and is eager to bring his experience in nonprofit operations and networking to support the organization's efforts in community partnership development and fundraising.
