Our community has some serious artistic talent 🎨🌿 Our community has some serious artistic talent 🎨🌿 We had such a lovely garden painting day creating colourful signs and plant labels to brighten up the space.
A little plant knowledge can go a long way 🌿 Our A little plant knowledge can go a long way 🌿 Our Community Leaders joined Garden Manager Nico for a walk through Moss Park, learning how to identify some of the common plants growing throughout the neighbourhood. To wrap up the workshop, the group used broadleaf plantain to make a soothing balm that can help relieve the itch from mosquito bites—a practical recipe to have on hand. Ingredients:
Fresh chopped plantain leaf
Olive oil
Beeswax As the Community Leaders Program approaches its final weeks, workshops like this are helping participants build practical skills they can carry forward. Nico’s session offered a strong example of how to lead an engaging, hands-on workshop while also encouraging the group to slow down, observe their surroundings, and deepen their connection to the land and plants growing in their own neighbourhood.
A little throwback to a not-so-distant summer day A little throwback to a not-so-distant summer day that still brings a smile. ☀️🌿 The sun was shining, kids were colouring together on a big blanket, and our wonderful volunteers were creating little moments of joy and connection. Nearby, a fresh salad was being prepared with leafy greens, picked just moments before from our garden. 🥗💚
You might have seen our harm reduction workshop la You might have seen our harm reduction workshop last week featuring *Snack Pairings* and wondered — what do snacks have to do with harm reduction? Food is an important part of supporting overall health and wellbeing, and for people who use substances, access to nourishing food and practical nutrition information can be another tool for caring for themselves. Our Harm Reduction Coordinator partnered with @goodmoodnutrition to create a space where community members could learn how different foods can support their bodies in meaningful ways. And of course… the snacks were as beautiful as they were nourishing! 🥕✨ Check out the second slide for the recipe for the delicious white bean and beet hummus.
There’s something special about gathering and crea There’s something special about gathering and creating something together. 💜 Last week, our Elder Roots group harvested fragrant lavender from the Moss Park Community Garden and turned it into a beautiful homemade lavender syrup for fresh lemonade. It was a simple activity, but one filled with laughter, conversation, and connection. As we get older, opportunities to build friendships and spend time in community become even more important. Programs like Elder Roots help nurture mental health, reduce social isolation, and create spaces where everyone feels they belong. If you’re 55+, we’d love to welcome you! Join us every **Friday from 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.** for good company, engaging activities, and plenty of conversation, and community. Want to help keep programs like this thriving? Consider making a donation through the link in our bio. Every contribution helps us continue creating welcoming spaces where our community can connect and flourish. 💚

Together, we’ll explore practical ways food can support health, build resilience, and help meet people where they’re at. These sessions are designed with people who use substance but we welcome anyone interested in learning, connecting, and supporting a healthier community. No judgment, no pressure—just community, conversation, and care. 📍 Green space by the Moss Park Market
