Spring has sprung at the Building Roots urban farm Spring has sprung at the Building Roots urban farm -- cherry blossoms in our tiny orchard, organic garden sorrel in the raised beds -- much more to come : ) Garden sorrel is a very welcome early green. Its lemony tang makes a time-honoured spring soup. Here's a recipe (link in bio) from Le Chateau Frontenac, or find others on the 'net from France, Poland, etc.
In addition to providing fresh produce and hosting In addition to providing fresh produce and hosting Coffee & Conversations every Saturday, our Moss Park Market also distributes essential goods that are important for the health and well-being of our community members, thanks to the support of our many partners. An exemplary one is Period Purse, who supplies us with essential period products. A big shoutout to the very important work that they do! #MenstrualEquity #PeriodProblems #periodcare
Join our $10 A Month Challenge and become a monthl Join our $10 A Month Challenge and become a monthly donor! As you know, food costs and people in need of food support are currently at an all-time high. Our Moss Park Market currently supplies the community with over 400 bags of fresh food per week — this is up more than 300% since 2021. We expect the number to continue to rise. While pandemic restrictions have lifted, the food crisis has only deepened. Many of the emergency pandemic funding programs have come to an end, so our funding is actually lower than in the last two years. But here’s where we believe $10, person by person, can make a big difference. If we could have 500 new folks become $10 monthly donors. we'd have a stable funding source for 500 families to receive a bag of fresh produce each month! To kick things off, our Executive Director Caroline Clair has doubled the challenge and signed up as a $20-a-month donor. Consider joining her, and help to make our dream of community-centred fundraising a reality. Join the challenge before June 21, the last day of Spring. Donation link in bio. #foodsecuritymatters #torontononprofit #donatetoronto
