Introducing our 2025-2027 Strategic Plan
In the winter of 2023, Building Roots reached the remarkable milestone of a decade in the Moss Park community. Over the past year, we’ve embarked on a deep journey of reflection, growth, and planning to ensure our future continues to align with the needs and aspirations of the people of Moss Park.
This period of introspection has been transformative, allowing us to refine our identity and clarify our approach to community engagement. Through conversations and collaboration with residents, volunteers, and staff, we’ve deepened our understanding of who we are and how we can create lasting, meaningful impact.
At the heart of Building Roots has always been our unwavering commitment to community. Whether through addressing food insecurity, fostering meaningful connections, or cultivating a deeper relationship with the land, our goal has remained the same: to nurture the diverse, dynamic members of Moss Park by building strong roots that support individual and collective well-being.
We believe that food is a central pillar of both physical health and community cohesion. It nourishes the body and, equally importantly, serves as a powerful tool for cultural exchange, environmental stewardship, and connection-building. By putting food at the core of our mission, we aim to not only provide nourishment but to foster a vibrant, interconnected community that celebrates diversity, shared learning, and empowerment through food.
As we move forward, our commitment is clear: to prioritize community-driven actions, inclusivity, and a focus on sustainable change. Together, we will sow the seeds of growth, advocacy, and opportunity, creating a future where every individual in Moss Park has the support and resources to thrive.
With gratitude and determination,
Caroline Clair, Executive Director and Monique Kavanagh, Board Chair
