The food was everything: Ishaaq shared cevizli sucuk (a walnut dessert), Morteza brought kashk bademjan (an eggplant dip), and volunteer + community member DJ cooked up French onion mashed potatoes, candied carrots, and apple crisp—all made with produce from the market 🥕🍎 And a big thank you to Joe from @mossparkespresso for hosting us and for being such an incredible community partner—so much care, culture, and love around one table 🤍

Huge thanks to @davidstea and @genuinetea for donating tea boxes, and to @lushcosmetics for contributing body care products to our gift bags. Khalid has lived in Moss Park for 25 years. He’s s Khalid has lived in Moss Park for 25 years. He’s seen the neighbourhood change, watched families come and go, and found community here that he’s proud to call home. He first found the Moss Park Market in 2016 by chance — seeing a line, asking a question, and joining in. He’s been coming ever since. Not just for food, but for the connection. “It’s not only about food,” he says. “People come early for coffee and tea. They know each other. They become friends.” Khalid speaks often about dignity, choice, and care — and about how much it means to feel welcomed, noticed, and supported week after week. Stories like Khalid’s are why this work matters, and why community spaces like the market continue to be so deeply relied on in Moss Park. As 2025 comes to an end, please consider donating so we can continue to be that space for many community members like Khalid in 2026. 🧡

Meet Daisy. 💛 Every Saturday at the Moss Park Mar Meet Daisy. 💛 Every Saturday at the Moss Park Market, Daisy greets neighbours with warmth, shares meals, offers tea and coffee, and creates a space where people feel seen and supported. She came to Canada from Kenya with a lifelong wish to help others — and when a friend told her about volunteering at Building Roots, “something clicked.” “When I volunteered there, the passion of helping came back.” For Daisy, this work is about food and connection:
“Some people come just to talk to us. We make them feel it’s going to be okay.” And every week, she sees how much donor support matters:
“For you, it might be a contribution — but for somebody else, you’re giving them something to put in their stomach.” This Giving Season, you can help Daisy continue welcoming neighbours with dignity, warmth, and care. 💛 Give Today & Support Daisy’s Neighbours

A couple days ago together with @works.in.progress A couple days ago together with @works.in.progress.to and community members, we spent the day creating wreaths, ornaments, and garlands using repurposed fabrics, cardboard, string, and whatever was on the table. What started as loose materials turned into something personal, thoughtful, and full of holiday feeling.✨ Some of these beautiful creations will be shared with community members during this weekends market day to take home and enjoy! 🎁
