This weekend, Maisha — one of our incredible volun This weekend, Maisha — one of our incredible volunteers and community members — prepared jollof rice, chicken, and salad to share with the community ❤️ When asked why she wanted to cook, she shared:
“I like how when we bring food, it brings community and togetherness. And this is a way I can fill the gaps when we don’t have hot meals.” A hot meal can completely shift the feeling of a space. People stay longer, talk to each other, and check in. What Maisha brought this weekend was more than food, it is exactly this type of community care that inspires and touches us and the neighbours around us. Support from community members, donors, and partners helps make these kinds of contributions possible. If you’d like to support future meals, food donations and contributions always go a long way. You can donate through the link in our bio 🔗🍎

In this Farmer Spotlight, we’re highlighting the T In this Farmer Spotlight, we’re highlighting the TMU Urban Rooftop Farm and the people helping reimagine what food systems can look like in a city. From ecological growing practices to food sovereignty initiatives and community partnerships, the rooftop farm is more than just a place where food is grown, it’s a space for learning, connection, and care. This is also where some of the “extra” items at the Moss Park Market come from — garlic scapes, chili peppers, cherry tomatoes, and more. 🍅 We spoke with Jess Russell, Operations Coordinator at the farm, about urban agriculture, community partnerships, and why growing food is only one part of building a stronger local food system. If you know, you know 🤝🐢⚡️ After a long Canadian If you know, you know 🤝🐢⚡️ After a long Canadian winter, The Market is finally joining the Coffee & Conversations crew outdoors for the summer season. While we stayed cozy inside, the C&C team held it down through snow, wind, freezing mornings, and everything in between — now it’s our turn to shake hands and join forces outside. Outdoor Market season is officially here ☀️ See you outside, neighbours.
Asian Heritage Month is here, and we’re excited to Asian Heritage Month is here, and we’re excited to celebrate the incredible diversity of cultures, traditions, and foods that help shape our Moss Park community 🌏 Did you know that over 40% of immigrants living in Moss Park come from countries across Asia? As the largest and most diverse continent in the world, Asia is home to an incredible range of cultures, cuisines, and traditions — and this month, we’re looking forward to celebrating just a small taste of that diversity at the Market. Each week throughout May, we’ll be featuring a few items from different regions for market members to explore and enjoy. We’re kicking things off this week with Shanghai bok choy 🥬

We’re thrilled to kick off the growing season with We’re thrilled to kick off the growing season with our amazing Community Garden Coordinator, Nico! 🌱 Last week we received some great feedback from community members on what they would like to see growing in the Moss Park Community Garden and we are excited to make that happen. While not everyone may be able to grow alongside us, everyone will have a chance to enjoy the harvest when we share it at the Moss Park Market. We’d also love to hear from you—what plants do you recommend for growing in Toronto’s urban landscape? Share your ideas with us!👇
