Slow food: It's not just about cooking Brrr! Hard Slow food: It's not just about cooking Brrr! Hard to believe that in just a few months we'll be harvesting for Moss Park from our little urban farm. But our focus on urban agriculture runs year-round. On Monday we talked with a class from the @gbcollege Chef School. Their slow-food course covers a lot -- sitting down with family to a meal with flavours from your childhood, growing the ingredients in an environmentally-responsible way, and paying farm workers a living wage whether they are here or in South America. A slow-food culture prioritizes quality and connection over speed and anonymity. It's healthy for bodies and minds, healthy for the planet, and healthy for local economies. Do something slow this week! #slowfood #consciousliving #urbanagriculture

We are still glowing from last Friday's final perf We are still glowing from last Friday's final performance as part of the Opera Makers program that we facilitated with @canadianopera and @yearegentpark. We want to take a moment and give special thanks to our partners over at YEA! (Youth Enrichment Academy). Over the past couple of months, they warmly invited Building Roots and the Canadian Opera Company to come in to their space at @danielsspectrum twice a week and have all kinds of fun (as indicated in these photos: 1. Writers room, 2. Puppet workshop, 3. Rehearsal space, 4. Space to play, 5. Space to stretch) Huge thank you to:
Sheron Royal-Campbell, YEA! Program Coordinator
Humaira and Sophie, YEA! Youth Outreach Workers
Basimah, Muna and Sumayyah, YEA! Near Peers As well as everyone else behind the scenes at YEA! who we could not have done this program without. We look forward to future collaborations! A detailed recap of the performance coming soon.

💕Happy International Women's Day💕 Every day 💕Happy International Women's Day💕
Every day of the year, we recognize and celebrate the important contribution of women to our communities, homes, workplaces, and all other public and private spheres. More importantly, we recognize the burden of invisible labour women take on in our society. According to the UN, women carry out “at least two and a half times more unpaid household and care work than men.”
International Women’s Day serves as a reminder that we still have a long way to go in achieving gender equality — a responsibility shared by all of us.

✨🎵Everyone wants an emotional connection. Eve ✨🎵Everyone wants an emotional connection. Everyone has a gift worth sharing. Everyone has a story worth telling. Knowing that small things add up to something bigger than us all, and we can share it with the world! 🎵✨ We are so proud of and excited for the upcoming final performance of our Opera Makers’ very own creation. Stay tuned for more updates!
