Moss Park Market

Building Roots’ Moss Park Market is a give-what-you-can fresh produce market open every Saturday from 11am to 3pm for residents of the Moss Park community.

Moss Park Market is run by donations, which allow us to operate a Give-What-You-Can model, offering fresh, healthy food that is accessible to all.

We offer a variety of fresh produce, sourced from local suppliers and farms. We also prioritize produce that is culturally meaningful, with ongoing engagement with the community to ensure we are supplying foods that are most needed.

Community memebers in Moss Park can access the food at the market at no cost. If they’re able, we encoourage a small donation towards the cost of the food. Any funds received are then directly reinvested into the food at the market, with the goal of a fully self-sustaining community market.

Open WEEKLY on Saturdays from 11AM to 3PM to folks within the catchment area of Richmond to Dundas and Parliament to Jarvis.

Located at 260 Queen St. E in the downtown core of Toronto.

The food we offer at the market comes from a number of courses including:

  • Second Harvest
  • FoodShare
  • Bondi Produce
  • Broadfork
  • Not Far From the Tree
  • Metropolitan Urban Rooftop Farm
  • Moss Park Community Garden

Did you know we purchase most of the food we provide? By the end of 2023, over 25,000 fresh produce bags were distributed to individuals and families. This number includes over 3,000 food bags delivered door-to-door to housebound residents in TCHC buildings nearby and as well as folks in the St. James Town through Community Matters Toronto and Toronto Council Fire. Additionally, Toronto Metropolitan University’s rooftop urban farm donated 37 crates, totaling 436 lbs of ecologically grown produce over four months.
